Process Technology for the Production of High-Purity Isobutene via MTBE Cracking
Kairui Environmental Protection’s MTBE process technology utilizes a reaction between isobutylene from C4 feedstock and methanol to produce MTBE, a high-octane gasoline blending component. This technology employs a reactor-plus-catalytic distillation process route, enabling the production of MTBE from various C4 feedstocks, as well as the chemical removal of isobutylene from C4 feedstocks via the MTBE process.
Process Technology Features:
1. High feedstock adaptability: The process can utilize by-product C4 feedstocks from FCC, ethylene cracking, isobutane dehydrogenation, olefin isomerization, olefin oxidative dehydrogenation, and coal-to-olefins processes, with the optimal process selected based on specific feedstock characteristics and product requirements.
2. The process can produce both Type I MTBE products (i.e., MTBE content ≥ 99% wt, MSBE ≤ 0.2% wt) and Type II MTBE products as specified in the “Industrial Methyl-tert-butyl Ether SH/T 1834-2002” standard.
3. The isobutylene conversion rate is high, and the C4 content in the post-etherification product can be reduced to as low as ≤0.05% wt. to meet the requirements of downstream processes.
4. Energy consumption is low. Thanks to the adoption of unique heat source utilization technology, energy consumption is reduced by more than 20% compared to traditional MTBE production technologies and by more than 10% compared to existing technologies in the domestic industry.
5. Low corrosion: This technology ensures that the pH of the circulating water in the methanol recovery system remains stable at 6.5 or higher over the long term, effectively resolving corrosion issues while significantly reducing wastewater discharge.
