Technology for the Production of tert-Butanol via the Hydration of Isobutylene

Butadiene-stripped mixed C4 hydrocarbons react with pure water in the presence of a cation exchange resin catalyst to form tert-butanol through hydration. After separation and concentration, high-purity tert-butanol is obtained.

The main processes include:

1. Co-current hydration of isobutene and water to produce tert-butanol

2. Counter-current hydration of isobutene and water to produce tert-butanol

The main features are as follows:

1. High product purity: Depending on customer requirements, standard products have a purity of ≥85%, while products manufactured using specialized distillation technology have a purity of ≥98%.

2. High single-pass conversion rate, achieved through the use of unique co-current and counter-current processes and our company’s proprietary highly active catalyst.

3. Long catalyst lifespan, with a service life of over 18 months.
