Canglian's MTBE Unit Sets Three Records

Recently, news came from the Cangzhou Refinery that in 2009, the plant implemented a number of measures to optimize MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) production to the greatest extent possible. Annual output reached 22,618 metric tons, which was 1.18 times the previous highest output and exceeded the facility’s design capacity by 2,618 metric tons; the product conversion rate reached 95.67%, surpassing the previous best level by nearly 7 percentage points.
The plant vigorously promoted a work safety competition, linking the completion of monthly production targets by each work team to performance evaluations, which effectively boosted the teams’ production motivation. Each work team devised strategies to reasonably adjust the operating parameters of the reaction units based on reaction conditions and operational experience. The plant also strengthened communication with our company’s technical staff, closely monitored changes in the performance of the D006 catalyst, and collaborated to identify optimal operating parameters. By promptly replacing the catalyst and optimizing operations to reduce processing losses, the plant ensured that isobutylene in the feedstock consistently maintained a high conversion rate.
