With rich experience in process technology and resin catalysts, the company began to research and develop reserves of carbon four utilization technology under the ethanol gasoline policy since the country implemented the ethanol gasoline policy in China in 2003. The dimerization of isobutylene to isooctene is an ideal isobutylene utilization route to replace MTBE. The isooctane hydrogenated product isooctane is a high-octane gasoline component.
The isobutylene technology and catalyst for the production of isobutylene superimposed by the company have completed small test, pilot test and industrialization. This indirect alkylation catalyst has completed the industrialization of superimposed devices at home and abroad, and the process technology has also achieved the success of domestic industrialized devices. run. Liu Wenfei pointed out that the difficulties in the development of indirect alkylation catalysts include:
——Catalyst selectivity For the downstream carbon four-deep processing unit, such as butene-1 separation and direct alkylation, all or part of isobutylene needs to be removed, and the control of n-butene should not be involved in the superposition reaction. It has higher selectivity, improves isobutene conversion, inhibits n-butene isomerization and reduces n-butene conversion.
——Temperature temperature resistance The superposition reaction is prone to fly-temperature phenomenon, which requires the catalyst to have high temperature resistance and improve the stability of functional groups under high temperature conditions.
- Catalyst life The superposition reaction tends to form trimers or polymers, causing blockage of the catalyst pores and causing catalyst deactivation. This requires a more reasonable pore structure and pore size distribution of the superposed catalyst to increase catalyst life.
The KC110 series resin catalyst developed by the company carried out long-term stability test. In the stability test of 1000 hours, the reaction conversion rate did not change significantly. In the pilot test, the olefin superposition process of pre-reverse + catalytic distillation, the total conversion of isobutylene can reach more than 99.5%, the selectivity of carbon octaolefin is more than 90%; the catalytic distillation column and saturated hydrodesulfurization reaction are determined. The optimal operating conditions, the optimal operating conditions are similar to the MTBE device conditions. Based on the pilot test data, Kerry Environmental has determined the technical solution for the MTBE plant to transform the isobutylene stacking device. In December 2016, 130,000 tons of isobutylene superimposed units were completed and put into production.
